The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended a yellow alert for Hyderabad and surrounding districts through Tuesday, July 22, in view of recurring late-day thunderstorms across Telangana.
According to weather models, intense convective activity is forecast over the southern, eastern, and western regions of the state. Hyderabad is likely to experience repeated rounds of heavy rainfall, particularly during the afternoon to nighttime hours.
On Friday, similar patterns are expected to persist, with rainfall totals at isolated locations possibly reaching up to 100 mm by Saturday morning, meteorologists warned.
Thursday brought widespread moderate to heavy downpours to many parts of Telangana. South, East, and Central districts recorded continuous spells of rain through the evening, extending into early hours. Rangareddy district received the highest precipitation, with some areas recording up to 150 mm overnight.
